Hello Twilighters!

Today is the official day to share your scrap pages for TTIC#56: Your New Moon Experience.

Let’s see what Alison has to say:

“Happy Tuesday Twilighters! So, have you seen it? How many times??? I know some of you have gone 2 or 3 times already! Now, the most important question… Did you take pictures???? If so, then join us in making a layout of your New Moon Experience! If you didn’t, that’s ok! Scrap your ticket stubs, journal about the evening’s events, etc! Just have fun with it! Even if you haven’t scrapped before, join in! We can’t wait to see what you make and read about your time at the movie!!!”

I have seen New Moon twice now and I may go for a third. Last week, I showed you a mini scrapbook that I plan to use for my first New Moon experience.

If you’d like to revisit it, please feel free

I haven’t placed my pictures in it yet but will someday soon.

For this week’s project, I decided to use a similar color scheme. I replaced the black with dark brown and made it incredibly, incredibly simple.

Let’s take a look…

One problem I have when I scrap is remembering that my pages need to lie flat in a book. I love embellishments and fun stuff but they aren’t always practical. I also tend to over do my pages where the focus falls on my craftiness and not on my pictures. But this is not the case! LOL. Here, I’ve made an incredibly simple 6×6” layout set.

Now, I have a confession. The photo is totally thrown in. I actually did take a picture of my husband on my BlackBerry the day we went, but my Blackberry and I are in this huge New Moon style thing where BlackBerry recently told me, “It will be as if I never existed…” And BB is not kidding. I can’t answer calls, find any of my saved stuff (some of which I spent real $$ on!!!), etc. So, the picture is gone.

Instead, you get this totally candid no makeup snap shot of me today after I went and had my hair did (I’ve always wanted to say that…). I really like the lady who does my hair…she’s a total sweetheart, she’s good, and her boyfriend just proposed to her!! WHOOT! Now I need to make her something… but I digress. We chatted a little about New Moon today so this picture kind of counts…right??

I used BoBunny Almond Double Dot and St. Nick Sleigh paper. The brown is Bazzill Bling. The letters are also from BoBunny and I sponged the edges with Bravo Burgandy ink from SU! All of the writing is done in a Garnet Spica pen.

I’m not sure if you can see the sparkle from this picture or not but you might want to click it to make it larger and try.

Ok…now it’s your turn! Head over to Twilight Tuesday and leave your link in Mr. Linky so we can see your creation!!!

Be sure to check out the rest of the design team’s awesome creations too!!

TTIC #54: The Raven

Category : Twilight Tuesday Inspiration

120x240banner lt’s been awhile since I did a Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge. I took the summer and early fall off to handle some other business but I’m finished now. So I’m back to have some fun!

The multi-talented and super sweet Rebecca came up with today’s challenge. And challenging it is!

I very loosely interpreted Rebecca’s challenge this week and crossed over some major lines. I hope everyone is cool with it though!

Let’s take a look at Rebecca’s challenge!

Hey Twerds and Twihards!   Its me {Rebecca} bringing you this week’s challenge!

In New Moon, we really get to know more about the “pack” and some of the Quileute traditions. In Quileute legend, the Raven is the trickster figure in Quileute Indian culture. His name is pronounced similar to bah-yuck in Quileute. (I found that tidbit somewhere on the internet!)

Raven is a shapechanger, who could assume any form – human or animal. The Raven is a clever and generally benign figure who sometimes helps humankind, but he also has many character traits that are viewed negatively in Quileute culture (greed, laziness, arrogance, deceitfulness, and rudeness) and many traditional legends have to do with Raven misbehaving and getting into trouble because of it. The tricks sometimes backfire, but in the manner of great fables – they offered life lessons for the young and old.

Your challenge: make a project that celebrates the Raven or any other Quileute legend (google it if you need some ideas!)

Comment section: Tell me your favorite fable or about the “trickster” in your life!

Hard, huh? That’s why it’s a challenge!! LOL. Ok here’s my project:

I realize my bird isn’t exactly a raven but let’s all use our imaginations!! I used the title of Ray Bradbury’s 1962 novel for my sentiment: Something wicked this way comes. Yes, that’s my hand writing.

So let me explain my interpretation. I’m going with the raven as a shapechanger and kind of mischievous. When I think about this, there is one character who comes to mind immediately and that is who I chose to focus on… Damon Salvatore.

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES

Sometimes, when Damon is about to enter a scene on The Vampire Diaries, a raven (or crow?) precedes him. I can only assume it is him shifting shapes. And girls, if I had a raven that shifted into Damon, I’d leave all my doors and windows open for him. PANT, PANT!!! Of course, Damon is the “evil” or “wicked” brother. He has his moments though. So I’ll go with a mere “wicked.” Hence the “Something wicked this way comes…”

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES
Look at that face! Is that a sly look or what? Damon definitely misbehaves!! But he does it soooo well!! The lines he delivers in TVD are classic! Did you see the episode where he was reading through Twilight? No? Go watch!!!

Damon Salvatore discusses Twilight

So, does this count as the person in my life who is my favorite trickster??? Please be sure to check out the other awesome projects by the TTDT:

Wow. Just wow. A whole year has gone by since the idea for the Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge began. It’s amazing to me. We started out with just Me, Beth & Eve.

Now we’ve added a whole team, a special site, a forum, challenges beyond our original TTIC and have made a whole coven of friends!!! It amazes me. And I want to especially thank Beth and Eve for going on this adventure with me…for making this all a reality. Thank you to both of you…I’m blessed to have you as friends!!

Originally, the TTIC was only planned to last until the opening of Twilight, hence the Twilight Tuesday name. Remember when MTV was doing Twilight Tuesdays for the Twilight Movie? Good times, good times.

Anyway, the three of us unanimously decided to continue on with the TTIC and I added Dani, Jen, Julie, Margie and Rebecca to complete the team. It has been an enormous pleasure working with each of these ladies!! We’ve all been through some good times, and some bad…and it’s been nice to have a group of supportive friends. I’ve watched each of the team grow so much over the year and I’m so proud of each one!!

This summer, we expanded yet again adding Alison, Donna, Erica, and Jacquie. Another excellent set of Twilighter crafters and friends! I am so incredibly blessed by the enthusiasm our newest editions have added to the team! They bring a fresh perspective to our challenges and each are very passionate about the TTIC.

I also want to thank the entire TTIC team for their dedication. I look forward to another fun year ahead!! I could go on for a long time praising this team, but you know how it is…people want to get on to the “good stuff” so let’s go!!

I’d like to share my two favorite past challenges:

TTIC #29 is a special shout out to Justin Furstenfeld who is in my constant thoughts and prayers right now. I love you, Justin, get better soon!

And finally, I’d like to revisit TTIC #36: What Says Twilight to You?

So much going on here… I used the Mojo Monday Sketch #110 for this card. I like the sketch and plan to use it again this week on another project that I’m really excited to share. All the gorgeous paper you see…BoBunny’s St. Nick line.

I also used Glass Slipper Bazzill Bling and Raven. I used PTI for my stamped Artful Inkables image. I embossed the Versafine Onyx ink with clear powder and colored it with Copic markers. It is cut out and popped up with dimensionals. I used Nesties to cut the scallop and circles.

The O.M.E! image is from StampInsanity Stamps’ OtherWorldly set. Available in my shop. I stamped the image with StazOn Jet Black Ink.

And this is the inside. It reads, “Twilighter and not ashamed”. How perfect is that??? This image is also from the Otherwordly set. All paranormal lovers need this set!

And now, it is my most honored pleasure to send you on to the marvelous Margie’s site!

I am the first stop in the blog hop but if you would like to return to the main site, please visit www.twilighttuesday.com. Enjoy! And thanks for participating! Oh! And be on the lookout for blog candy!!!

BTW, a special thank you to Margie and Marie for setting this up!

I made a simple 4×4” card for this challenge. I used Copics to color my Edward image.

Of course I had to use Shimmerz to make Edward sparkle:

ttccgf 001

I used Angel Wings Shimmerz for Edward’s face. He was stamped on SU! Shimmery White paper so there is plenty of sparkle on this card.

ttccgf 002

I also used Coal Shimmerz to color the stripes in Edward’s pants…cause he’s cool.

Make sure to visit everyone’s blogs to see what they’ve come up with!

TTIC #34: Celebrate Summer!

Is the weather beautiful lately or what? Well here in Texas it sure is. And the temperature hasn’t reached hot as hell (literally) yet so we’re all good! I love summer. And Jen came up with this great summer themed challenge for us:

Creative Challenge:

Your creative challenge this week is to go all out and celebrate summer! You can create a Twilight themed summer piece or you can celebrate your own summer plans or a fantastic summer that has passed.

Those of you participating on the other side of the world from those of us in the US/Canada are just wrapping up your summer… your task is similar to above, celebrate something wonderful you did this summer or focus on Bella and Edward’s possible summer adventures.

Comment Challenge:

Do you have a favorite summer adventure of your own? I want to hear about it! It could be from your childhood or currently. Do you have any exciting things planned for THIS summer? I’d love to hear about those too!!

I really, really love summer. Summer always held such fun for me as a teenager and very young adult. So I guess it just reminds me of youth and promise. I can think of so many fabulous summer memories…there was this one time….at band camp…no really…(I wasn’t in the band) but I could tell you some stories!! And if you are from a small town where there is nothing to do, I bet you have the same ones! I do have one particular summer night that very vividly stands out in my memory that involves motorcycles and not coming home until 5:00 a.m. (I was 20 thank you very much).

But, in my current life, my favorite summer adventure has to be when we went to Disney World, the happiest place on Earth. You know it was! It was fantastic and I plan to go again very, very soon (look out Maureen! Rebecca! I’m coming to see YOU!). I love the beach. Any summer that involves spending time at the beach is a great one. I seriously have so many great summer memories, I have no idea where to start. And this summer, I get to go to Seattle…and FORKS!

ttic34 summertime 001So, my project. Seriously, I do not know if there are lighthouses on the west coast. I’m not trying to show my stupidity here…it’s just I haven’t been and all anyone ever hears about are the beautiful east coast lighthouses. But I chose a lighthouse as my centerpiece anyway.

I figure Bella and Edward hung out in Edward’s meadow. Maybe in a few trees (ala the movie) and perhaps in a lighthouse or two? Personally, I’m thinking Bella and Edward enjoyed summer nights (aha…those summmmmmmmerrrrr niggggggghhhhhhtttssss…tell me more, tell me more, tell me more! Name that movie.) together. I envision them under the stars just talking and falling further in love.

Let’s talk about what I did to this image. I used OMS (odorless mineral spirits) and Prismacolor pencils for the coloring. Have you tried OMS and Prismas? I have OMS in my store (the good stuff) and I’ll be releasing it this week for orders. I’ll be selling my OMS in 2 oz. plastic bottles with a dauber top. I think you’ll like it a lot. And I have some great stumps as well for blending. I should have that ready to order on Wednesday.

ttic34 summertime 003

When you color with Prismas and then blend it with OMS, your pencil lines fade and you get a fabulous picture.

I’m probably going to do a video on this technique.

In this image, I added Crystal Effects to my clouds, water, and light.

ttic34 summertime 004

It’s not easy to photograph and today I was having a particularly difficult time.

You might see it easier if you click on the picture to enlarge it. The white on the water isn’t a gel pen, it’s light reflection!

I’m really excited to share the design team’s blogs with you this week since we’ve got the new guest designers with us! Be sure to check them all out and see what fantastic projects they’ve made!
