Mojo Monday 116

Category : Cards, Mojo Monday Sketch Challenges, Nestabilities, Verve Stamps

I might be one of the only people on the planet who enjoys Monday. But I do. I like Monday because it’s the start of something new. The kids are back in school…the house is quiet…and, of course, it’s Mojo Monday time!

WAIT!!! Hold up a second.

Have you ever been shopping around or driving down the street and see an advertisement and the color combo just reached out and grabbed you??

Well, that happened to me with this:

chocrasp

Yoplait Delights, Chocolate Raspberry

So I knew I wanted to use this color combo this week.

Chocolate Brown, Dark and Light Pink.

And here is my creation:

I used Soft Suede (SU!), Flat Broke (Bazzill Bling), Melon Mambo (SU!), Pink Pirouette (SU!), and white (PTI). The designer paper is from SEI and the stamp set is Thankful Accents by Verve. I also used Vintage Sepia Versafine and Melon Mambo SU! ink . The final accessories are Nestie ovals, Martha Stewart bling, Melon Mambo ribbon (SU!).

This is one gorgeous circle with scroll/flourish work! It’s got so many possibilities!!

This is the inside all ready for me to write in! Now if only Friday will get here…

Another Mojo Monday!

My mojo and I had a fight this morning. I don’t know if I have ever spent this much time on one card before!!! Absolutely nothing about this card turned out the way I envisioned it.

Mojo – 1        Tonya – 0

The Mojo Monday (Week 113) Sketch is supposed to look like this:

Mojo113Sketch

And I just love this sketch! I plan to use it a couple of more times this week!!

But this morning, it just wasn’t working for me. Here’s what I came up with:

The designer paper is BoBunny Winter Serenade and it is so gorgeous. The bottom layer and cross are BoBunny Double Dot Frost. The white layers are PTI and the layer under the cross is Glass Slipper Bling by Bazzill. The Images are from the Blessed Christmas set by Verve Stamps.

I used retired Baja Breeze Stampin’ Up! Ink to sponge the edges. I also used Brilliance black ink for the images. The card is standard size.

Did you know tomorrow is the last day to sign up for Twilight Tuesday’s New Moon Blog Hop?

I worked on my mojo this afternoon. My mojo and I have been in couples counseling and things are really starting to work out lately. Hopefully mojo will continue to act nicely and I can make lots of new inspiring things!

So here is my entry for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Week 112!

I dug really deep to in my creativity to make this card! The entire card was chosen for a specific special friend of mine. I am hoping she isn’t reading my blog right now but just in case, I’m not saying who it’s for! These colors are right up her alley I believe.

I used Organic Snowdrop (in my store this week!) by BoBunny. The paper is double sided. I also used Baja Breeze (retired, Stampin’ Up!) for the layers and Soft Suede (Stampin’ Up!) for the base. The buttons, eyelet and ribbon are all Stampin’ Up! The stamped image is from Just Rite Stampers (coming soon to my store!). I sponged all the edges in Soft Suede ink to give the whole thing a distressed look.

Have you ever made faux metal accessories or images like I did here?

This is one cool technique. If you’ve never done it, you definitely should try it out.

Faux Metal:

  1. Using Top Boss or Versamark, directly apply ink to paper.
  2. Cover with embossing powder (I used copper), shake off excess and heat set.
  3. Apply your Top Boss or Versamark again.
  4. Cover with embossing powder and shake off excess.
  5. Before heat setting your final layer, ink the image of your stamp with the Top Boss or Versamark (I prefer Versamark). Lay aside.
  6. Heat set again. Once the image is set, quickly stamp your image into the embossed area before it cools down. Remove stamp.
  7. Voila!!

Then you can punch out your image or whatever you want to do. I think this is a super fun technique that I don’t use nearly enough. The image I used from Just Rite stampers has a tiny bit of dark (Versafine, Onyx) ink on it so the lines in Love are noticeable.

And this is the inside of the card! I can’t wait to write my message and send it to my fun friend. I hope she enjoys this! If you happen to use the faux metal technique, be sure to leave me a comment so I can go check yours out!

Beate revealed a fabulous Weekend Sketch Challenge (#105) today and I just had to do it immediately! I have a couple of other cards I want to make with this sketch too!

I used BoBunny ‘Tis the Season and St. Nick designer paper for this card.  I just love this St. Nick line. It’s so traditional and the epitome of “Christmas”. I also used Bazzill Emerald City Bling for the layering. The bling is from Close to My Heart. The image and ribbon is from Stampin’ Up!.

If you play along with Beate’s challenge this week, be sure to let me know so I can visit you!

Wow. Just wow. A whole year has gone by since the idea for the Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge began. It’s amazing to me. We started out with just Me, Beth & Eve.

Now we’ve added a whole team, a special site, a forum, challenges beyond our original TTIC and have made a whole coven of friends!!! It amazes me. And I want to especially thank Beth and Eve for going on this adventure with me…for making this all a reality. Thank you to both of you…I’m blessed to have you as friends!!

Originally, the TTIC was only planned to last until the opening of Twilight, hence the Twilight Tuesday name. Remember when MTV was doing Twilight Tuesdays for the Twilight Movie? Good times, good times.

Anyway, the three of us unanimously decided to continue on with the TTIC and I added Dani, Jen, Julie, Margie and Rebecca to complete the team. It has been an enormous pleasure working with each of these ladies!! We’ve all been through some good times, and some bad…and it’s been nice to have a group of supportive friends. I’ve watched each of the team grow so much over the year and I’m so proud of each one!!

This summer, we expanded yet again adding Alison, Donna, Erica, and Jacquie. Another excellent set of Twilighter crafters and friends! I am so incredibly blessed by the enthusiasm our newest editions have added to the team! They bring a fresh perspective to our challenges and each are very passionate about the TTIC.

I also want to thank the entire TTIC team for their dedication. I look forward to another fun year ahead!! I could go on for a long time praising this team, but you know how it is…people want to get on to the “good stuff” so let’s go!!

I’d like to share my two favorite past challenges:

TTIC #29 is a special shout out to Justin Furstenfeld who is in my constant thoughts and prayers right now. I love you, Justin, get better soon!

And finally, I’d like to revisit TTIC #36: What Says Twilight to You?

So much going on here… I used the Mojo Monday Sketch #110 for this card. I like the sketch and plan to use it again this week on another project that I’m really excited to share. All the gorgeous paper you see…BoBunny’s St. Nick line.

I also used Glass Slipper Bazzill Bling and Raven. I used PTI for my stamped Artful Inkables image. I embossed the Versafine Onyx ink with clear powder and colored it with Copic markers. It is cut out and popped up with dimensionals. I used Nesties to cut the scallop and circles.

The O.M.E! image is from StampInsanity Stamps’ OtherWorldly set. Available in my shop. I stamped the image with StazOn Jet Black Ink.

And this is the inside. It reads, “Twilighter and not ashamed”. How perfect is that??? This image is also from the Otherwordly set. All paranormal lovers need this set!

And now, it is my most honored pleasure to send you on to the marvelous Margie’s site!

I am the first stop in the blog hop but if you would like to return to the main site, please visit www.twilighttuesday.com. Enjoy! And thanks for participating! Oh! And be on the lookout for blog candy!!!

Today, I made a card for Beate’s Weekend Sketch Challenge (WSC102).

I was able to use a retired River Rock long note card for the base of this card. I really miss that color!

I did something I never do…embossing! I embossed the skull image! This stamp image just screams for embossing. However, as soon as I’m finished with this post, I’m off to email my friend Donna for some embossing advice. She can emboss like no one I’ve ever seen. I must find out the secrets!!!

This is the inside!  I love this card!!!

If I touch it, I will mess it up…

You ever have days like that? No? Just me?? Well, ok.

I had this big plan to do my darling friend Gayle’s sketch challenge for the Sugar Bowl. But that was like…24 hours ago… and since then I developed one of those nasty sinus headaches that causes you to be intolerable to light and sound. Ok, it bordered on migraine status. So I seemed to have “forgotten” what I was actually doing with this challenge.

I got 1/2 of it right. The “dress” your image part. Jeez. I did the wrong sketch!! So I’ll be back at the craft table to do another one the right way this week. But until then, you can see my “messed up” version using Mojo Monday’s Day 5 of Mojo Monday Turns 100 (that was a mouthful!).

I dressed my Gorjuss Girl in retired Bella Rose designer paper from Stampin’ Up!. That is some gorgeous paper that I will truly miss.

I wanted to show you the red Spica pen I used on her. See how glittery it is? There is no ink under the pen. It’s a fantastic pen for sure!

Tomorrow, I’m going to share a product review of “rubber” scissors and which I like best. Be sure to check back because that’s not all! I’ll also be sharing a sneak peek of the new Wildflower Kids digital Thanksgiving stamps!
