"The most important person any player should work to be as good as is himself. Your own excellence success and greatest pride comes from only one person–you.

Your first responsibility is to Be the Best you can. There’s nobody else like you so why try to be like somebody else."

~ Frank Robinson ~

Dani has come up with another really cool sketch design for us this week: Twilight Tuesday Sketch Challenge #19! I’m a little late with mine today but it’s finally done.

This is another really easy card to make that would be fun to demo in a workshop. This is definitely one of those cards for all those people out there who exclaim, “Oh no! I could never do that!” Because they can!

The base is Chocolate Chip SU! card stock, the white is PTI, and the rest is BoBunny. I used Onyx Black Versafine and polysparkle embossing powder for the sentiment from Unity Stamp Co. I absolutely adore this image/sentiment from Unity. Isn’t it an encouragement? Sometimes we all just need a little encouragement, huh?

The pearls are from SU! and the flower jewels from Kaiser.  See? So simple even a caveman can do it!!

Enjoy! And don’t forget to check out what the other design team and participants have made!

TTIC #32: The Great Northwest

Twilight Tuesday!!! WHOO HOO!!!  This week’s challenge has been issued by the divine Eve!!!

The challenge for this week’s Tuesday is “The Great Northwest.” If you have ever lived there you know what I mean. Maybe if you have only visited there you know what I mean. Maybe if you only heard about the filming of the movie you know what I mean. It is beautiful there. There is a reason for it’s beauty….all the rain!

washington-state-main1

So from the space needle to the forests. From the rain to the trees. From the lush green beauty of it all to the Olympic Peninsula. There are so many reasons to LOVE the great Northwest. Edward’s family chooses to live there. Bella feels she has to live there, and hated visiting as a child. Don’t forget the trips to Seattle, the coast, and into the forest. Have fun with this one!

Comment portion: If you could visit anywhere in the Northwest – where would it be and why?

Be sure to visit the other Design Team member and see what they’ve made this week!

Special Note: Our beloved Julie will be taking a break this week. There has been a significant death in her family and she will be occupied with the funeral, etc. Our condolences to Julie and her family!!!

Ok, I’ve made a rather strange looking project. Ready?

ttic32 001

What is it, right???

Well, this, my friends is an embellishment. It’s a 4×4” carded image expressing what I think of when I think of The Great Northwest.

I’ve attached a Twilight button which features that awesome mountain, forest overlook scene from Twilight.

I’ve also attached four tile pendants I bought many months ago from someone on Etsy. (BTW, Jen’s pendants in her Etsy store are the bomb. I highly recommend them!!!)

ttic32 002

Here are the tiles.

I attached them with a rope looking tie.

I thought it looked a little rustic.

ttic32 004

Here is a close up of the bear and raccoon surrounded by the forest (Trees, Unity Stamp Co., Bear and raccoon from the Under the Stars set from Stampin’ Up!).

I used my SWMs to color the animals and Always Artichoke to stamp the trees. The layer are AA and Chocolate Chip.

So what is this embellishment for? Well…

Comment Portion: If you could visit anywhere in the Northwest, where would it be and why?

This is so ironic that Eve chose this theme. This weekend, I found out that I will be accompanying my husband to a conference in Seattle at the end of July! So I definitely choose Seattle and Forks for the place I’d visit! I’m so excited!! I’ll definitely be visiting Forks, La Push, and Port Angeles. I am also hoping to visit St. Helens and other places where Twilight the movie was filmed. So if any of you Twihards are in the area, let’s meet up!!! Last week of July!! Who’s in??

So the embellishment is being saved for a scrapbook I plan to make after I visit The Great Northwest!

TTIC#25: Your Favorites

This week, our very creative Jen (she made the banner above, isn’t it fantastic?) issued our challenge:

For this week’s TTIC challenge I wanted to do something a little different. We’ve been picking very specific themes that showcase the design team’s favorite things and having everyone create something based on that. Well this week I thought it might be fun to focus a little more on what our participants like and are drawn to about Twilight. So our focus this week is:

Celebrate YOUR Favorites!

Creativity Challenge:

This week for the creativity challenge you are to show us what you love about Twilight. Is it Edward? Or the baseball scene? Emmett’s one-liners? Alice’s quirky style? The meadow? Or maybe it’s a quote. You choose! As part of this challenge to vamp it up a bit I also want you to concentrate on showcasing your favorite medium. Use your favorite technique, supply, material, etc. to help show case your favorites about Twilight. (I know that might be a tall order so 1 out of 2 ain’t bad. ;) ) Show us what you LOVE about Twilight.

Comment Challenge:

I would love to hear what Twilight has meant to all of you. It seems that Twilight has affected many people on so many different levels. I know for me it’s given me this great group of women whom I love creating with, along with so many other wonderful gifts that I never thought would come from just a book. I’d love to hear more about what Twilight has brought into the lives of others.

Isn’t this an AWESOME challenge? Well, I’m going to mix mine up a bit and very liberally interpret the challenge. What I’m going to do is show you a couple of my past favorites which truly represent my favorite characters! Those of you new to the challenge may not have seen these, and those who have been around…I hope you enjoy the trip down memory lane…

This card was originally designed for TTIC#6: Rain. I featured Bella who is, one of my favorite characters. Now, Jen mentioned using our favorite techniques, supplies, materials, etc.  And this card has several. First, I love to use designer paper in my stamped images (umbrella and coat). I love the effect it gives the overall image. I also love the dew drops used on this card. Those things are wonderful!

Of course, my very favorite is Edward. I’m guessing I’m not alone in that!! I’m observant that way… This card was originally made for TTIC#5: Who’s Team Are You On? or better known as: TTIC#5: TEAM EDWARD!

The red paper used in this design has got to be one of my all time favorites. It is a suede type of paper with the best feel evah! The paper is from Club Scrap. I love using ribbon on my projects and this was some of the best.

My favorite mediums to actually use are markers and now pencils. I’ve been playing with Gamsol and am about ready to make that public! However, I don’t really have any of my favorites using these.

As for the comment portion of the challenge, I am very grateful for the friendships I’ve made. I know this sounds cliché but it is true. I’ve met some awesome ladies, seen some great projects and creativity, and bonded with some in a deep way.

One thing I’d like to share today, did you know we have a new Flickr group? We do! There’s a Design Team Group where you can see all the projects we’ve done since the beginning and there is also a public group where you can post your Twilight projects.

Tomorrow, Julie will be revealing the scavenger hunt winner on www.twilighttuesday.com so be sure to visit.

TTIC #7 – Emmett Cullen

9

Category : Stampin' Up! Stamps, Twilight Tuesday Inspiration, Unity Stamp Co.

I love Emmett! However, all of Emmett’s really good stuff doesn’t get written until after Twilight! Midnight Sun gives a pretty good insight into Emmett. I’m glad that Emmett was always so supportive of Edward. He adds just the right amount of light-hearted humor to the otherwise intense story of Midnight Sun.

So here’s my favorite Emmett part of Midnight Sun:

His shirt was destroyed, torn and bloodied, sticky with sap and covered in fur. His dark curly hair wasn’t in much better shape. He had a huge grin on his face.

“That was a strong one. I could almost feel it when he clawed me.”

“You’re such a child, Emmett.” Midnight Sun, page 149.

This was in response to Emmett fighting a bear that he would eat…hence, my card:

This is a simple 4 x 4″ square card. I used the Unity Stamp Co. trees in the background again. The bear is from the set Under the Stars. I stamped the bear four times…colored and cut three out. The last one was stamped onto the trees for placement and hair effect. I used my Stampin’ Write Markers (Close to Cocoa and Creamy Caramel) to color the image. I used Always Artichoke for the trees. The base is also Always Artichoke with a Close to Cocoa layer followed by the Very Vanilla layer. I sponged Riding Hood Red on the edges to commiserate Emmett’s “torn and bloodied” shirt.

I added the “Hasn’t anyone ever told you not to play with your food?” (Edward Cullen) sentiment on vellum and framed with silver HPHW.

I layered the bears slightly off each other to give it a motion, 3-D effect.

And finally, I got Carlisle Cullen on the TA quiz. No big shock on that one!!

TTIC #6 – Rain

Category : Cards, Challenges, Hanna Stamps, Twilight Tuesday Inspiration, Unity Stamp Co.

I’m a little behind with my post for today’s Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge! I threw this card together and I’m not sure I’m completely happy with it. It is, however, quite possibly the most bling-iest (I know that’s not a word!) card I’ve ever done!! You’ve been warned…

watermark My Bella is dressed by Alice. Are you ready?

Color brown? Check. After all, Bella likes it a lot..

I pulled on my brown turtleneck and the inescapable jeans, sighing as I daydreamed of spaghetti straps and shorts. Twilight, Chapter 11, page 226.

“What’s your favorite color today?” He was still solemn.

“Probably brown.” I tended to dress according to my mood.

He snorted, dropping his serious expression. “Brown?” he asked skeptically.

“Sure. Brown is warm. I miss brown. Everything that’s supposed to be brown–tree trunks, rocks, dirt–is all covered up with squashy green stuff here,” I complained.

He seemed fascinated by my little rant. He considered for a moment, staring into my eyes.

“You’re right,” he decided, serious again. “Brown is warm.” He reached over, swiftly, but somehow still hesitantly, to sweep my hair back behind my shoulder.

Twilight, Chapter 11, page 228.

My Parisian Summer dp was the perfect choice, I guess. I did a lot of stamping and cutting to get it on the umbrella and rain jacket.

I also used Crystal Effects on the outside of the umbrella. I added some Robin’s Eggs too. I was feeling feisty.

I hadn’t planned on more Robin’s Eggs but I accidentally poked a hole I needed to cover. So there ya go!

See those boots? Crystal effects gives them their slick look!

And just in case you can’t read the sentiment, here it is:

When I landed in Port Angeles, it was raining. I didn’t see it as an omen–just unavoidable. I’d already said my goodbyes to the sun.

And this about sums it up:

I tried to maintain what dignity I could as I got into his car. I wasn’t very successful–I looked like a half-drowned cat and my boots squeaked. Twilight, Chapter 5, page 104.

Now what do I think about the rain? Rain is awesome when you can sleep during it! I love the smell of a fresh spring rain. I love the breeze through the house while it’s raining. I love to sleep during thunderstorms. And if it brings an Edward Cullen…bring it my way!!

Stamps: Hannah Stamps and Unity Stamp Co.

Because Twilight Tuesday is my favorite day of the week…

It’s still Tuesday so I can justify another TTIC #5 post, right? Look, stampers…I’m going to be really honest with you. I’m afraid I was too ambiguous with my TTIC #5 post earlier. I’m really not a Switzerland kinda girl and I just know you need some clarification so let me spell it out very slowly…

T-E-A-M    E-D-W-A-R-D!!!

I couldn’t resist. That paper of Eve’s just keeps drawing me in…so here ya go!

I told ya that you could use Mikey from Hanna Stamps as Edward!! Make sure you click to enlarge the pic. I used my scraps of that fab red paper to make his shirt. And scraps to make his funky black pants too! I colored his hair as coppery as I could and even tried to make his eyes that luscious topaz! After all, he would have been crabby if his eyes were black. They HAD to be topaz–he’s smiling!!

I pulled out my Shrinky Dinks. Never opened them until tonight. So this is my first attempt. That’s still Eve’s fab ribbon. and the last piece of the gun metal silver that I adore so much! Yes, that’s my handwriting. But isn’t Eve’s heart brad cute?

SHRIEK!!! Can you believe it??? He sparkles!!!!!! Yep, that’s Shimmerz. Just for you Twilight stampahs…all for you.

Edward in the sunlight was shocking….His skin, white despite the faint flush from yesterday’s hunting trip, literally sparkled, like thousands of tiny diamonds were embedded in the surface. {Twilight, page 260}

You all rock! Thanks for supporting this Twilight obsession of mine.

TEAM EDWARD!!! TTIC #5

Like anyone is surprised. Check this out:

Capture2 Capture3

ROFL!!! I love this! My Team Jacob friends (I think there are 2!) won’t…but I sure do! This is on a hoodie I saw at Zazzle.com. I’m thinking about buying it. I’ve been checking it out…I think I can get clothes for every day of the week. (Obsessed much?)

Anyway, I have two cards this week. Here’s my first:

stamphappens 101208 007

I made this using my wonderful Unity Stamp Co. stamps. The "my vampire can beat your werewolf" stamp is part of the prize packages at the end of this Twilight inspiration challenge! How cool is that??? The trees also came from Unity Stamp Co. I love them!! The color combo is Baja Breeze, Always Artichoke, and Chocolate Chip. The designer paper is retired SU!

stamphappens 101208 006

Here is a closer look at the stamp. Ok, ok…I’ll admit it. You can also get a "my werewolf can beat your vampire" stamp for my 2 (snicker) Team Jacob friends*.

And do you remember me telling you that my fab friend Eve sent me a stash of cool stuff? Well, it’s the big reveal!!

Here’s the whole load! She made the Edward picture! And it’s glossy!! WHOO HOO!!

The paper from this set almost made me cry! It’s everything Eve’s says it is! That is the most luscious red paper evah! I couldn’t bare to cover it…oh, I’m getting ahead of myself…

That ribbon! Holy Crow! Exquisite!! I only wish I could hand you pieces of that silver and red baroque to feel. It’s like…lose 20 lbs feel good. I can say the same for the red velvetish (my word) paper too.

She even sent me a sentiment quote from New Moon. AND it’s like, one of my favs!! GUSH!!! Did you see those fab little silver and black embellies? TOO freakin’ awesome.

GASP!!! Can you believe it! I’m totally speechless on this one. I’m digging out my shrinky dinks immediately! You totally, completely, utterly ROCK Eve! Sorry, Beth, you’ve been replaced. Eve’s my new BFF. (*winks*)

So, I am milking this stash for at least 2 blogtastic cards so I’m doing one now and one later. Did I mention I love this paper? Here’s my divine creation…

stamphappens ttic5 008

SIGH. Look at that beautiful face. I am forever, Team Edward. See the "perfection" rub on? Oh, yes, indeed. As mentioned earlier, I had to leave as much of that red as pure as possible so the smooth velvety feeling wouldn’t be lost.

stamphappens ttic5 009

Are you digging my chipboard E cutout?? I embossed this baby twice with black embossing powder. Cause that says…EDWARD. Masculine. Sexy. Stone-cold. yep. See that gorgeous to-die for ribbon? I added two of my own as well. And those silver embellies!!!

stamphappens ttic5 010

I wish you could touch my Team tag. So soft. Basic Black textured paper too. How do you like the little apple? It’s all about choice, right? Forbidden fruit and all that. Yes, I hand wrote "choice"…forgive me. The word "team" and the rest of Edward were made from rub-ons.

And now for your listening pleasure…so totally *Edward*… Unintended by Muse:

Final caveats:

*All ribbing is in jest. Team Jacob lovers will not be persecuted on my blog…too much…
