I have finally been able to make my card for the Twilight Tuesday Sketch Challenge #14.

I’m really excited to do this challenge so let’s take a look:

Here is Dani’s sketch.

It’s a cute sketch, huh?

Thanks for making it Dani!

Here is my card. I’m very excited about this card. The designer paper I’ve used is from BoBunny’s fall 2009 line and it is scrumptious!!! Take a look at this line, Love Bandit. You are truly going to love it! Since leaving Stampin’ Up!, this is my “go to” line of paper. I adore it!!!

I used Flamingo and Strawberry Double Dot heavy weight paper. BoBunny’s “heavy weight paper” is basically card stock. It’s nice. Now, personally, I like my card bases to use a slightly heavier weight card stock and this is where the ultra fab PaperTrey Ink comes in. I simply make my design, and then adhere it to a PTI base. However, this is purely a personal choice.

I’ll tell ya what. That Donna sure can change a girl’s life. I’m totally married to my heat tool for embossing my sentiments now. I’m not so sure how well you can see the embossing in this picture, but it’s there. The trick for me, was using Versafine Onyx ink. That was the total difference. Thank you, Donna!!

The sentiment is from Just Rite Stampers. I like these stamps and am trying them out a bit to see if I’m interested in carrying them in my store.

The crystal bling is from Close to My Heart. The butterflies are from Sizzix via Stampin’ Up!.

Beautiful paper stampers. You really need to try this stuff!

This week’s Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge is issued by the awesome Alison! Here is what Alison has to say:

Hello Everybody! It’s no secret that Breaking Dawn is my favorite book in the series. So, now that it’s my turn to create a challenge (which I am SO excited about!), of course I would pull something from that book!

Spoiler Alert! If you haven’t read Breaking Dawn, then stop reading this post and pick up that book! Then, you can come back and read the post, and complete the challenge! :-D

One of the things I love the most about Breaking Dawn are Jacob’s chapter titles. They’re hilarious!

My favorite is: “What do I look like? The Wizard of Oz? You Need a Brain? You Need a Heart? Go Ahead. Take Mine. Take Everything I Have.” Chapter 17, page 329

This chapter title perfectly depicts what Jacob is going through but in a sarcastic, tough, Jacob kinda way. So, here’s the scoop. We’ve all been on the giving and receiving end of many things, and I’m not talking about presents. We have given our “all” (or someone has given us their “all” for us) just because we love them so much. Jacob loves Bella with everything he has and would give it all to her because of it. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for her; that’s definitely made clear in this chapter!

Comment portion: Who have you given your all to? Your kids? Your best friend? Who’s given their all to you? Your parents? A doctor? Tell us about that special relationship where someone has gone as far as they could with the gift of themselves.

Project portion: Show us who has given you their everything or who you’ve given your everything to. Make a layout showing it, or a card to give that person, or even a gift just to say “thanks” or “I love you with all that I have.”

Be sure to check out the design team’s projects!

Whoa. That’s a profound challenge isn’t it! And, I have to fully admit, Jacob’s chapter titles are hilarious. I highly value the relationships in my life so I try to give a lot of myself to everyone I’m in relationship with. That doesn’t always work, I admit. But without a doubt, relationships are extremely important to me. I think I’ve given my “all” to two people in my life. The type of “all” that leaves you thinking…”there was absolutely nothing more that I could’ve done.” But obviously, I’m thinking of two distinct situations. Both people are still in my life so I’m not finished with either yet. So how can I say I’ve given them my “all” when the relationships aren’t over?

Anyway, let’s see my project.

Hope Happens. Need I say more?

stamphappens71909 008

I distressed this card using Basic Brown Stampin’ Up! ink. A lot of the supplies are discontinued SU! stuff: Parisian Breeze specialty paper, Chocolate Chip wide ribbon, and wire. I also used an embellishment from my stash, Nestabilities, and kraft ribbon.

Here is a closer look at the butterfly and “hope happens” sentiment.

And here is the embellishment I added. Now stampers, I need some help. How do I set these types of embellishments (preferably with my Crop-a-dile) without damaging it?

ETA: I want to alert you all to Julie’s fabulous blog candy giveaway! She’s giving away fab candy all month so you should definitely get on her RSS feed!

I plan to post the instructions for the popsicle card tomorrow for those who are wanting them. Be on the lookout!

Today, however, I’m going to share another summer treat. Ready?

stamphappens.060609 008

I used my Scor-Pal to make the lines on the waffle cone (thanks for the idea, Bestie Beth!) and I used the cupcake SU! die (Sizzix) for the ice cream.

stamphappens.060609 009

In case you’re wondering…that’s mint chocolate chip right there, baby!! See the outlines on the ice cream? Those are made with Sakura Souffle pens that create a puffy, embossed look.

And here is the inside of the card! I’m thinking this will be one of the cards we make in my next stamping class. Thoughts?

Flower Pots EVERYWHERE!!

This year, the big CASE is the flower pot card. All you have to do is hop over to the SCS galleries and you will see many beautiful recreations! It’s the cutest card this year!! So, of course, I jumped on the bandwagon…being the trend follower I am. Not to mention the one and only Mother’s Day card I got this year was a flower pot card! Thank you, Mary Lou…you are a true friend! I love you!!

So, I decided to make my own mother a flower pot card. I got my instructions from Stephanie Luman’s blog who gives original props to Linda Heller and Missy Shipman. I believe Linda is the originator.

I used Parisian Breeze Specialty paper, Baja Breeze card stock, Soft Sky card stock, Whisper White card stock, retired Chocolate Chip wide ribbon and retired Close to Cocoa ribbon. I also used retired wire, pearl halves from the Pretties kit, and Robin’s Nest dew drops. I used the Cherry Blossom and Simple Flower embosslits and Birds and Blooms for the leaves. I used the Bigz die, Beautiful Butterflies for the butterfly.

Here is a close up of the butterfly. Hey, are you a subscriber to my blog? Do you know about the subscriber challenge I have going on?

Here’s the pullout for my card. I accidentally got the “Happy Mother’s Day” sentiment to close so it is slightly covered. But it worked. There is Angel Wings Shimmerz on the butterfly.

How about some comments to brighten my day? Comments motivate me to bring you fabulous stuff!

TA DA!!!

I am finally finished with the tutorial for making my Vertical Note Card Box as promised!

Download Vertical Note Card Box.pdf (694.6K)

I have not made the note cards that fit into this box yet. So no pictures of those! And this post is going to be really short because I’m really behind!

stamphappens 41109 050

Before I go, I just wanted to point out the butterfly on my lid. I was completely inspired by Beate’s card Kiwi/Baja Butterfly.

Her card is completely gorgeous (as always) and I knew I just had to make the butterfly for this box. I have every intention of CASEing the complete card soon!

I used Angel Wingz Shimmerz on my butterfly. Have I mentioned I love that stuff??

Stay tuned for Wednesday when a really big announcement will be made!!

More from my Cricut and NEW SU! embossing folder

Today I’d like to show you a couple of things I made with my Cricut and the new Textured Impressions Die (aka embossing folder!) Manhattan Flower. The Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Die is just a fancy way of saying Stampin’ Up!’s exclusive version of an embossing folder. The folder, however, is super cute.

Since I’m talking about the Manhattan Flower folder, I’ll start by showing you that one:

I wanted to keep this one clean. I really wanted to show off the flowers and I really wanted the look to be elegant. So I stuck with white SU! paper. I accented with Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze. The rub-on is from a new collection to be released on April 1st. The rhinestone bling is from the Pretties Kit.

The next card is my Cricut card!

stamphappens 32209 005

I made this with my Storybook Cricut Cartridge (that’s my fav place to shop for Cricut Cartridges, Thanks, Linda!!). I didn’t make this card overly fancy…I wanted the sentiment to speak for itself. Plus, it’s a 4 x 4” card so there isn’t a lot of room. I absolutely adore this sentiment and cartridge! I adore it! So much potential.

Are you making anything with your Cricut? Send me a link and I’ll check it out!

Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge #22: Bella’s Birthday

21

Category : Big Shot, Blog Candy, Cards, Challenges, Memory Works - Margie, Nestabilities, PaperTrey Ink, Sizzix, Stampin' Up! Stamps, Twilight Tuesday Inspiration, products

Our lovely Rebecca has the honor of challenging us this week for our Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge! Rebecca has chosen Bella’s birthday.

From Rebecca:

New Moon opens with Bella’s 18th birthday and Alice in full party mode. Most people dread turning 30 or 40, but Bella dreaded turning 18 – mostly since that meant she was “older” than Edward. For the Cullens, they were excited – the last birthday they had ever “celebrated” was Emmett’s many decades earlier.

For the creative challenge part – create a birthday themed item – you’re welcome to draw inspiration from the party or just go with “birthday”.

For the comment part – tell us if you’ve ever given or been the recipient of a surprise party or let me know if there was a birthday you dreaded. Or simply just let us know what your favorite birthday gift was.

So, in doing my challenge, I drew from this portion of New Moon:

“They were all waiting in the huge white living room; when I walked through the door, they greeted me with a loud chorus of ‘Happy Birthday, Bella!’ while I blushed and looked down. Alice, I assumed, had covered every flat surface with pink candles and dozens of crystal bowls filled with hundreds of roses. There was a table with a white cloth draped over it next to Edward’s grand piano, holding a pink birthday cake, more roses, a stack of glass plates, and a small pile of silver-wrapped presents.

It was a hundred times worse than I’d imagined.” (New Moon, Chapter 1, Page 25)

I chose the color scheme of Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Whisper White, and silver.

That is actually silver on the layer. The picture doesn’t do it justice. Thank you to Margie for the paper! It’s gorgeous! The silver ribbon is PTI. I added lots of Stickles to the rose.

The rose is from the retired Roses in Winter set (my all-time fav!).

See the embossing? Those are the new Sizzix embossing folders SU! is selling. I bet you’re wondering about the “Happy Birthday” sentiment. Well, Bella didn’t want her birthday celebrated. So I deliberately left it off. Hey, had to show Bella some respect somewhere!

Now for the comment portion. Have I ever thrown a surprise birthday party, been the recipient of one or had a birthday I dreaded? Yes. To all three. Best birthday gift? I’m not sure about that. I’ll have to think on that one. Sorry stampers…that’s as far as I’m going on this one! ;o)
