Prairie Fairies are in the house!

Category : Cards, Copics, Events, Nestabilities

Have you been seeing all the little fairies around lately? I have! And they sure are cute! I was just introduced to The Prairie Fairy recently and I love the illustrations.

They are reminiscent of a simpler, easier time. They remind me of all the innocence of childhood and playing outside in the spring and summer time when the wind would blow in my hair, the sun shine on my skin (without me being worried about skin cancer) and I’d go barefooted all the time.

Does anyone live like that any more besides Matthew McConaughey and his son? I digress.

Anyway, TPF is having a design team call and I’ve decided I’ll try out. I don’t normally try out for DTs because, as much as I love the idea, I don’t seem to have the time. But, I really like these designs and would like to give it a try. Wish me luck!

Here is my entry. I’m a little pushed for time because I have a final paper due Tuesday at school…and I haven’t even started it!

What do you think? Should I get a DT spot? Even if I don’t, I loved using the image!

This would be what one might call a hodgepodge post…so don’t say I didn’t warn you!!

First of all, I’m excited to announce that Justin Furstenfeld of Blue October is on the mend, feeling better, and will be appearing LIVE as scheduled in Austin next month!

stubbs

If you look very closely, you’ll notice that these dates coincide with the release of New Moon!!! That is like…super cool…you know why? Me, Beth, and Julie are all meeting in Austin for a girls weekend—our first evah and we are going to this concert!!!

New Moon, Blue October, girlfriends…Good Times. Good times.

TTIC is helping TwilightMoms raising money for Blue October’s causes that the Pick Up The Phone tour was planning to raise awareness about. I’ve donated, TTIC donated…how about you? Go see TTIC’s post here!

Next up, I want to remind everyone of Sarabeth’s Halloween Blog Hop starting on the 30th…

ShabbyBlogsFeelsLikeHomeHeader2

And finally, I am late in posting my sample for the Wild Flower Kids ‘Tis the Season digital release!

I used Mojo Monday Sketch 110 for the layout. The patterned paper you see is BoBunny, ‘Tis the Season (ironic, huh?) Snowflakes, and Treasure. The image was printed onto PaperTrey Ink white card stock. The card stock layers and base are Bling Bazzill, but I don’t have the color name. The card is a 5.25” square. The ribbon and rub-on are Stampin’ Up!. I used Copics to color Ivy and Spicas to highlight her halo, candle flame, wings, and dress.

I’m trying to show you the glittery edges of Ivy’s dress that I used the Spicas on. I’m not sure how well you can see it! The wings are also glittery.

Tomorrow, I have more to share. I have a super fab journal that Julie made and is selling now! I can’t tell you what I’m doing with mine yet…but I will soon. It will be worth waiting for, I hope! But I am going to show you how I keep track of my Copic markers and how I determine which colors I use. Won’t that be fun?

Guess what else? I have the full line of the new BoBunny fall release!!! I’m desperately trying to get it inventoried so be on the lookout! I plan to work quite a bit tonight getting it in. This stuff is GORGEOUS! I can’t wait to share!

Bloghop

Wow. Just wow. A whole year has gone by since the idea for the Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge began. It’s amazing to me. We started out with just Me, Beth & Eve.

Now we’ve added a whole team, a special site, a forum, challenges beyond our original TTIC and have made a whole coven of friends!!! It amazes me. And I want to especially thank Beth and Eve for going on this adventure with me…for making this all a reality. Thank you to both of you…I’m blessed to have you as friends!!

Originally, the TTIC was only planned to last until the opening of Twilight, hence the Twilight Tuesday name. Remember when MTV was doing Twilight Tuesdays for the Twilight Movie? Good times, good times.

Anyway, the three of us unanimously decided to continue on with the TTIC and I added Dani, Jen, Julie, Margie and Rebecca to complete the team. It has been an enormous pleasure working with each of these ladies!! We’ve all been through some good times, and some bad…and it’s been nice to have a group of supportive friends. I’ve watched each of the team grow so much over the year and I’m so proud of each one!!

This summer, we expanded yet again adding Alison, Donna, Erica, and Jacquie. Another excellent set of Twilighter crafters and friends! I am so incredibly blessed by the enthusiasm our newest editions have added to the team! They bring a fresh perspective to our challenges and each are very passionate about the TTIC.

I also want to thank the entire TTIC team for their dedication. I look forward to another fun year ahead!! I could go on for a long time praising this team, but you know how it is…people want to get on to the “good stuff” so let’s go!!

I’d like to share my two favorite past challenges:

TTIC #29 is a special shout out to Justin Furstenfeld who is in my constant thoughts and prayers right now. I love you, Justin, get better soon!

And finally, I’d like to revisit TTIC #36: What Says Twilight to You?

So much going on here… I used the Mojo Monday Sketch #110 for this card. I like the sketch and plan to use it again this week on another project that I’m really excited to share. All the gorgeous paper you see…BoBunny’s St. Nick line.

I also used Glass Slipper Bazzill Bling and Raven. I used PTI for my stamped Artful Inkables image. I embossed the Versafine Onyx ink with clear powder and colored it with Copic markers. It is cut out and popped up with dimensionals. I used Nesties to cut the scallop and circles.

The O.M.E! image is from StampInsanity Stamps’ OtherWorldly set. Available in my shop. I stamped the image with StazOn Jet Black Ink.

And this is the inside. It reads, “Twilighter and not ashamed”. How perfect is that??? This image is also from the Otherwordly set. All paranormal lovers need this set!

And now, it is my most honored pleasure to send you on to the marvelous Margie’s site!

I am the first stop in the blog hop but if you would like to return to the main site, please visit www.twilighttuesday.com. Enjoy! And thanks for participating! Oh! And be on the lookout for blog candy!!!

Easy Mini Scrap Book for Busy Bash!!

I have a super cool friend from high school that I hooked back up with via everyone’s favorite…Facebook! Gotta love social networking! Anyway, my friend Sharon is a really great person. She was always one of those super sweet people in high school. Not one of the fake, nasty, stab you in the back Mean Girls. I’ve always liked Sharon a lot. I remember one time in high school she actually taught me one of my life’s biggest lessons and she probably neither remembers nor realizes that something she said had such deep impact!!! You’re dying to know what it was aren’t you?? Sharon was starting to date a guy (who was also super sweet) and she came into gym class with that glowing look after just talking with him…remember those?? And I remember asking her to dish…and she basically told me that she didn’t want to…because it would spoil the specialness. I remember being stunned at that! And I thought about that…a lot. I came to realize that Sharon had it right!! Keeping those special moments…special…included not dishing about them! Thanks, Sharon!

Anyway…back to paper. Sharon asked me if I’d be interested in helping her by writing some instructions for a mini scrap book. There’s simply no way I could say no since she’d given me some really awesome life insight back in high school!!! ;) So let’s look!

This is the Easy Mini Scrap Book for Sharon’s Busy Bash (cool concept!!!):

This truly is an easy and fast project to make. Great for quick gifts or stocking stuffers! This project is not my original idea. I only interpreted it from another project and made it my own. Unfortunately, I do not know who to credit. As always, I’ll happily credit if anyone knows to whom that credit should go.

This book had to be EASY … something busy moms could do in very little time without being an “expert”. So I’ve kept the project extremely simple.

There are 10 pages in my book. You can do 8 pages or 10 pages for this book and the instructions will still work. Anything more, and the cover score marks will not work.

I love the elegant look of black card stock. For this project, I chose Raven Bazzill because it has a nice texture. I like to use a textured card stock when I will be displaying a lot of plain paper.

I made a very simple decoration for the front cover. I used Onyx Black Versafine ink and embossed it with clear powder. I think the look is very elegant and isn’t over powering for this small book. I added in a very light blue (Soft Sky, retired from Stampin’ Up!) for just a hint of color to this project. I adore this color combo!!

Inside the book, I used primarily white pigment (or craft) ink. White pigment (or craft) ink can be difficult to work with. My most important tip for you, is to ink your stamps upside down. This will keep your images from getting too much ink pooled in places you don’t want it. I ink all my stamps this way and I find the images to be crisper and easier to work with.

In one word, this picture BITES!!! Sorry about that! I actually added tiny rhinestones to the “dot, dot, dot” in Once Upon A Time…

Make sure when you are using white craft pigment ink, that you allow for plenty of time to dry. It takes forever!! On this book, I let two pages dry over night before moving on. You can use a heat tool, but I prefer to air dry. I seem to warp things with my heat tool…

I basically made my own designer paper using this stamp. I think it turned out very nicely! On the opposite side, there are white page mats for your pictures and journaling. If you’re brave, you can add gel journaling on the black paper as well!

Because I just couldn’t stay completely away from some bling, I added a few Robin’s Nest Dew Drops on this page set.

Another page of the “designer paper”. I sponged my white pieces with Soft Sky ink just to add that light hint of color.

In case you are wondering, I use sponge daubers like these to add my color.

Another bad shot. This is the final page set. I didn’t have time to wait for this white ink to dry so I decided to add clear embossing powder and heat set it. THAT I can do.

I thought the embossing turned out nice. It’s a little hard to emboss on texture but I think it looks fine. I added the Martha Stewart bling because I just had to.

I added more black layers to this card. I also changed the moon color and used Angel Wings Shimmerz to give it some sheen. This card is a little more masculine and perfect for the hottie in your life…

Isn’t it perfect?? I love this!!!

Let’s look back at the front again right quick:

I used stickles around the scallop edges. The rub-on is from last year’s Halloween set from Stampin’ Up!

Do you likey?

Please be patient with me stampers! I think I’ve finally recovered from my technical difficulties. It was a hard battle…the computer was winning for a very long time there…I was ravaged…tired, hungry, ready to give up!! Alas, a new hard drive came to save my day!!

So I’m back. I’m feeling a bit rejuvenated and I think I might have found my old mojo hanging out in that messed up hard drive! Anyway…I have a spectacular card to show you today! It’s a sneak peek from Bestie Beth’s Morgan’s Spell (StampInsanity Stamps) that will be released on Friday!!!

You’ll be able to buy this awesome set in my shop. On Friday. You’re gonna want it…
