Prairie Fairies are in the house!

Category : Cards, Copics, Events, Nestabilities

Have you been seeing all the little fairies around lately? I have! And they sure are cute! I was just introduced to The Prairie Fairy recently and I love the illustrations.

They are reminiscent of a simpler, easier time. They remind me of all the innocence of childhood and playing outside in the spring and summer time when the wind would blow in my hair, the sun shine on my skin (without me being worried about skin cancer) and I’d go barefooted all the time.

Does anyone live like that any more besides Matthew McConaughey and his son? I digress.

Anyway, TPF is having a design team call and I’ve decided I’ll try out. I don’t normally try out for DTs because, as much as I love the idea, I don’t seem to have the time. But, I really like these designs and would like to give it a try. Wish me luck!

Here is my entry. I’m a little pushed for time because I have a final paper due Tuesday at school…and I haven’t even started it!

What do you think? Should I get a DT spot? Even if I don’t, I loved using the image!

Thoughts of Bella and Mojo Monday! Hey, guess what? No Copics… GASP!

Ok! So I am late with my Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge this week. It’s another color challenge from Alison:

Image

Cute colors, huh? This challenge is called Thoughts of Bella.

colors

I used Bazzill Sparkle, Stampin’ Up! Riding Hood Red and Bazzill Glass Slipper. I really should’ve chose SU! River Rock…but, it’s done.

I used the Mojo Monday Sketch and did both the round and square version! WHOOT! Am I rockin’ it or what? And you know what else I did? I left out Copics today and gave my ink some love.  I really love this color combo for Valentine’s Day! It just fits perfectly (IMHO) with these new Verve stamps!!

This card is on the small side. It is as adorable as can be and so simple to make! If I were doing workshops, I would demo this card! So cute, so easy. You know, the really cool part about this card is that it really gets back to the art of stamping. You know, before Copics came along and we weren’t all being colorist? It’s cool how trends go. Wonder what the next hot trend will be…???

I embossed. That’s standard these days. I remember it wasn’t long ago when I hated embossing. I just wasn’t using the right stuff (thank you, Donna!). Now I just don’t feel complete without it. I stamped the heart with Riding Hood Red ink from SU! (retired, but my very favorite red evah!)

I’m not sure how other people make their scalloped round cards. I didn’t want mine to have a weird scallop edge at the top so I did it like this. It stands up well and I like it.

And then I made a standard A2 size card. This would be another good one to demo. Very easy to make; perfect for beginners! The card is pretty clean without a lot of layers. This is great for people wanting to save on paper. Especially when you are just starting out and you don’t have a large stash. This is a fabulous sketch for that.

I did not emboss! WHA?? I know. It was really hard for me not to. Instead I used Spicas. I know, that’s basically the same as using Copics. I used the Clear to go over the words and Garnet on the hearts.

Here is the inside. I thought it was kind of cute so I’m sharing!

Have you turned in your Stamp Happens sketch challenge yet? Come on people!!! I have 8…I need at least 10!!!   It’s due Friday so hurry, hurry, hurry!

TPE Sketch & Chillaxing

Category : Copics, Nestabilities, The Pink Elephant

Today I have another image from Sassy Studios to share! It’s not as risque as yesterday so you can all chillax…

I made this card using the Pink Elephant Sketch Challenge #50. Isn’t the paper gorgeous? It’s Abbey Road designer paper from BoBunny (in my shop!). I also used Chocolate Chip card stock from SU! and white card stock from PTI. The sentiment is from Verve and the image is from Sassy Studios. I used Vintage Sepia Versafine, polysparkle embossing powder, MS punch, and Nestabilities. I also used circle and scallop punches from SU!. Copic colors: 0, BG49, BG45, E57, E59, YG67, YG63, E55, E49, E47, E53, E11, E00, R11, R20, E31, YG91, E43, R59, E37, E35, N0.

And can I point out a small detail?

Let me direct your attention to my lady’s sweater. I added some very subtle texture to it. Can you tell? I did this using a washcloth and colorless blending solution. I think that’s a pretty fun technique!

Two Announcements:

  1. Don’t forget to enter the Stamp Happens Sketch Challenge for your chance to win Zeke & Maddie!
  2. I added a new Copic instructional section: Choosing Copic Colors Part 1.

Thanks for looking everyone!

Be sure to check back next week when I’ll have a Christmas message to wrap up our year and give you some previews for what is to come!!

Ok, let’s get down to business!

This week’s challenge has been issued by the

supernova rockstar, Margie!

 SmileyCentral.com<– That’s Margie…

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m still celebrating the release of New Moon!

And with my b’day in just a few days! I’m in the mood to keep on celebrating in every way possible!

… sigh… wouldn’t it be nice to receive a handsome vampire as a gift? ;)

This week’s Challenge is to create a “Celebrating” project for the vampire-lover in your life! You can choose any holiday or event i.e. birthday, Christmas, Valentine’s, etc.

Have a ton of fun with this one!

Comment portion: There’s no denying that we all have wish lists! Especially with the holidays upon us!  Some lists are a little more practical than others… What’s on your “not-so-practical” wish list??? Please share!!!

Note to self, remember to wish Margie a very happy birthday on Thursday, Dec. 10th!!!

..duh…yes it would be nice to receive a handsome vampire as a gift…

(sorry Donna, I forgot to put my card up first…)

This handsome “vampire” would be nice…

I bet no one guessed I’d list Justin Furstenfeld in my “not so practical” wish list, huh?? See CB back there? He’s hot, too!!

Here’s the ring Justin can buy me:

And then we can go to Fiji and stay at the Poseidon Undersea Resort:

And I want to look like this while I’m at it!!!

Dude! It’s my “not-so-practical” wish list—I can have what I want!!

Ok, back to Planet Reality.

I made a celebrating project for the vampire-lover in my life, Beth.

The celebration part is two-fold. 1. It’s her Christmas card (sorry there’s no surprise there Beth!) 2. It celebrates her Morgan stamp set and all the hard work she’s done!

I apologize for the lighting.

The sketch I used is Mercy’s Tuesday Sketch Challenge #50.

I used Petty Cash In the Pink, and Strawberry Daiquiri Bazzill Bling cardstock. I also use PTI white and designer paper and brads by Doodlebug Design Inc. The ribbon is Soft Suede from SU!. The image is from Naughty or Nice and I colored Morgan with Copics and Spicas.

Copics: RV04, RV10, R29, R37, YG03, E57, E55, VG 17, E00, B000, N0

This is on the inside of the card. The sentiment is from the same set and is stamped in Vintage Sepia Versafine ink. The Morgan image is stamped in Black Onyx Versafine.

Ok, you know the drill! Check out the other designer’s projects:

Mojo Monday 116

Category : Cards, Mojo Monday Sketch Challenges, Nestabilities, Verve Stamps

I might be one of the only people on the planet who enjoys Monday. But I do. I like Monday because it’s the start of something new. The kids are back in school…the house is quiet…and, of course, it’s Mojo Monday time!

WAIT!!! Hold up a second.

Have you ever been shopping around or driving down the street and see an advertisement and the color combo just reached out and grabbed you??

Well, that happened to me with this:

chocrasp

Yoplait Delights, Chocolate Raspberry

So I knew I wanted to use this color combo this week.

Chocolate Brown, Dark and Light Pink.

And here is my creation:

I used Soft Suede (SU!), Flat Broke (Bazzill Bling), Melon Mambo (SU!), Pink Pirouette (SU!), and white (PTI). The designer paper is from SEI and the stamp set is Thankful Accents by Verve. I also used Vintage Sepia Versafine and Melon Mambo SU! ink . The final accessories are Nestie ovals, Martha Stewart bling, Melon Mambo ribbon (SU!).

This is one gorgeous circle with scroll/flourish work! It’s got so many possibilities!!

This is the inside all ready for me to write in! Now if only Friday will get here…

Bloghop

Wow. Just wow. A whole year has gone by since the idea for the Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge began. It’s amazing to me. We started out with just Me, Beth & Eve.

Now we’ve added a whole team, a special site, a forum, challenges beyond our original TTIC and have made a whole coven of friends!!! It amazes me. And I want to especially thank Beth and Eve for going on this adventure with me…for making this all a reality. Thank you to both of you…I’m blessed to have you as friends!!

Originally, the TTIC was only planned to last until the opening of Twilight, hence the Twilight Tuesday name. Remember when MTV was doing Twilight Tuesdays for the Twilight Movie? Good times, good times.

Anyway, the three of us unanimously decided to continue on with the TTIC and I added Dani, Jen, Julie, Margie and Rebecca to complete the team. It has been an enormous pleasure working with each of these ladies!! We’ve all been through some good times, and some bad…and it’s been nice to have a group of supportive friends. I’ve watched each of the team grow so much over the year and I’m so proud of each one!!

This summer, we expanded yet again adding Alison, Donna, Erica, and Jacquie. Another excellent set of Twilighter crafters and friends! I am so incredibly blessed by the enthusiasm our newest editions have added to the team! They bring a fresh perspective to our challenges and each are very passionate about the TTIC.

I also want to thank the entire TTIC team for their dedication. I look forward to another fun year ahead!! I could go on for a long time praising this team, but you know how it is…people want to get on to the “good stuff” so let’s go!!

I’d like to share my two favorite past challenges:

TTIC #29 is a special shout out to Justin Furstenfeld who is in my constant thoughts and prayers right now. I love you, Justin, get better soon!

And finally, I’d like to revisit TTIC #36: What Says Twilight to You?

So much going on here… I used the Mojo Monday Sketch #110 for this card. I like the sketch and plan to use it again this week on another project that I’m really excited to share. All the gorgeous paper you see…BoBunny’s St. Nick line.

I also used Glass Slipper Bazzill Bling and Raven. I used PTI for my stamped Artful Inkables image. I embossed the Versafine Onyx ink with clear powder and colored it with Copic markers. It is cut out and popped up with dimensionals. I used Nesties to cut the scallop and circles.

The O.M.E! image is from StampInsanity Stamps’ OtherWorldly set. Available in my shop. I stamped the image with StazOn Jet Black Ink.

And this is the inside. It reads, “Twilighter and not ashamed”. How perfect is that??? This image is also from the Otherwordly set. All paranormal lovers need this set!

And now, it is my most honored pleasure to send you on to the marvelous Margie’s site!

I am the first stop in the blog hop but if you would like to return to the main site, please visit www.twilighttuesday.com. Enjoy! And thanks for participating! Oh! And be on the lookout for blog candy!!!

Beautiful Butterfly…

Category : Big Shot, Cards, Cuttlebug, Nestabilities, RAKs

The very, very lovely Donna sent me some of her very, very gorgeous butterfly images. I’ve been holding these butterflies because I love them soooo much. Crazy, huh? I don’t even want to give them away!!

This is a 4×4” card with a PTI white base. I used Bazzill Raven for the black layers.

I also used circle and scallop nesties.

The blue rhinestone is Martha Stewart. The black flower is a Prima.

I used the Moroccan Cuttlebug folder on the Tempting Turquoise card stock.

Donna always does the most beautiful job embossing. Embossing is not my favorite thing to do but Donna sure makes it inviting.

She’s given me a few hints that I plan to try this week. I hope mine turns out as beautiful as hers!

Thank you, Donna!!
