I’m so excited!! This is my first challenge as a new DT on The Prairie Fairy team!!! YAY ME!!!

I’m also excited about my teammates who absolutely ROCK!

Their projects make me feel like an amateur so I guess I better pick up my game!

Thank you, Roberta…the most supreme Fairy Princess, for allowing me to be in your meadow!

Ok, let’s get started.

This week is Challenge #18 and we have been challenged to RECYCLE!

I got to use Lewis for this week’s project.

I Red heart Lewis!

Isn’t he awesome!!??

He just makes me giggle.

Did you know that if you buy images from The Prairie Fairy that you can earn Fairy Special Rewards?

YES! You SAVE on your entire order! DISCOUNTS PEOPLE! It’s worth it!

I went and found some Legos out of my son’s Lego box.

He found me out last night when I gave him this card to give to his teacher.

This is teacher appreciation week and today the kids are taking thank you cards to their teachers.

I thought this looked like a 5th grader. So voila!

I used some Crystal Effects on Lewis’ glasses!

Let’s talk about Lewis’ shirt for a minute.

Do you like it?

This is really easy to do.

This trick comes in handy especially if you don’t have many Copic colors.

I got this effect using a Copic Blender marker.

Don’t let the name fool you.

As you can see, it’s really a color remover.

It’s known as a “bully” because it pushes color around.

I used the brush tip of the marker and went over the lines two or three times carefully.

And voila! Stripes!

What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it’s all about?????

Be sure to check out the other DT projects!

Friends Having Fun Challenge Blog

The Pop Culture Princesses (led by Erica!) are hosting this week’s Friends Having Fun challenge!

And the Pixie Dust Studio is generously sponsoring our first challenge!

PDS has some amazing images based on Alice in Wonderland in a collection called Down the Rabbit Hole.

I was blessed to get an image from the collection to play with. Thank you, Kathy!!

PDS is offering 2 digi images to a randomly selected winner from the challenge submissions.

So go play with us and leave your link!!

Be sure to visit FHF to see the team’s projects!

Ok, let’s see what I made…

My card is CASED from the fabulous Amy Sheffer. I loved the sketch she used for her card and simply knew I needed to make something similar.

I was really tested with this project. I don’t always do projects with such bold colors. And I love how this turned out!

I used BoBunny Popsicle designer paper, Kiwi Double Dot card stock, and SU! ribbon and Kraft card stock. The sentiment is also SU!

The Copics I used were heavily custom colors matched to the BoBunny paper.

I used W3, W5, and W7 for the black areas. I used E000 and E00 for the skin.

I also used Spicas. I’m not sure if you can actually tell. The sentiment areas are colored in Spicas, too.

TEASE!!!!!  I will be using this image to show you how to make custom Copic colors later this week!

2004 Called and wants it’s GEL CARD back!!

Yep, I went there…did that. I created a GEL CARD!!! I just couldn’t help myself when I saw this gorgeous Sassy Studios image!

So if you’re a relatively new paper crafter, you may have never seen a gel card. These were all the rage back in 2004. They are pretty easy to make and a lot of fun for cards that involve fish, swimming, and anything that needs water. However, they are a little bulky so you’ve got to be careful with your embellishments and such. If you’ve never made one and are interested, go check out Beate’s Splitcoast Tutorial.

I forgot how fun it was to squish the gel around and make fun bubbles… I used Bazzill Bling paper to give my otherwise plain card some pizzazz. The image is the focus here, stampers!

I used my clear Spica to color the mermaid’s tail, shirt, and pearls. And I must say, I really, really love how her tail turned out. Can I be impressed with myself?? Wonder what other retro cards I can dig up…

Sassy Studios Challenge: Pink & Brown

Two challenges…one day! Crazy, huh? As I previously mentioned, I’m doing things a little differently this week to give myself a little break and to get out of my normal routine. I’ve only recently purchased some Sassy Studio images and I think they are fun! I guess I’m slowly coming around to the digi craze. You’d think I’d jump on it faster given my geeky status with technology but… oh well.

I created this card for the Dare to Be Sassy Thursday pink and brown challenge:

I used BoBunny Persuasion designer paper, Strawberry Double Dot card stock, Chocolate Chip SU! card stock, and white PTI card stock. I also use Versafine Onyx Black ink with polysparkle embossing poweder, Robin’s Nest Dew Drops, Spicas and Copics.

To create the texture on the cupcake, I dabbed a blender fluid soaked washcloth onto the ink. This card is going to a special lady with a birthday coming up…wonder if she’s reading this post now???

sassysaturday109 Also, I am humbled and grateful that I was chosen to be featured on Sassy Studio’s Sassy Saturday. Thank you so much! It’s so nice to have my work recognized and I appreciate it very much!

I was looking around my crafting natural disaster area when my eyes fell on all of my Stampin’ Up! stamps. My SU! stamps have been sorely neglected lately so I pulled out some to work with this week. I hope to give them a little love. I also got my new release order from Verve so I’m excited to start using those!

Did you notice that the sketch I used today has been used twice? If so, you’re paying attention!   On Monday, I’ll be posting this sketch as a new challenge over in The Shop to win a really great prize. Mark your calendar!! There will be a twist in the rules…

Yes!! It’s time for another Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge! Today is our third sketch layout from Alison. It’s also her birthday!! Let’s see what she has for us…

Today just happens to be MY (Alison) Birthday!!! And, as you Twi-Hards all know, Bella’s Birthday really is the catalyst that sets New Moon in to motion. So, to help me celebrate (and to continue to celebrate the release of New Moon),  I want YOU to make a Birthday scrapbook page! It can be about anyone! You, your kids… or, if you want to keep it purely Twilight, make a layout about Bella’s Birthday!!! So, please celebrate my Birthday with me and make a totally rad scrapbook page!!! Then, go and have some cake!

I’m also using my project for the Mo’s Digital Pencil Challenge #13 (Birthdays).

Ready? Here we go!!

Here is my 12×12” Scrapbook Layout:

I used BoBunny designer paper, PTI and Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Up! card stock.

The images are Verve Stamps and Mo’s Digital Pencil. Let’s take an even closer look…

This is the Verve image. I used Versamark Onyx ink and embossed it in polysparkle.

Jumping down just a bit, this a subtitle tag. Notice the blank space on the left? I thought I would add the month vertically.

This is the Mo’s Digital Image. Is this the cutest little fairy or what??? I love her! I colored her in Copics:

I added Spicas to some of the image: The wings and the stars.

Now for my confession. I’m “technically” in Sarasota in Florida while prepping this post. I had all my Copic numbers written in but…somehow lost them. I’ll update this post later with the correct numbers but here are the colors:

So. Yes. It’s official. I am now officially Copic Certified! Be on the lookout for more organized, detailed, better Copic information from me and the shop in the very near future. I think you’ll be excited about the Copic changes coming!

Can I Do Goth?

Category : Coloring Techniques, Copics, Spica Pens, Stampin' Up! Stamps, The Greeting Farm, Verve Stamps

That is the question I asked myself when I looked around my stamp stash to try and find the perfect stamp for my wonderful friend, Alison. It’s Alison’s birthday next week and I wanted a perfect card that is as cool as she is. Seriously, Alison is like…super cool…and, well I…am not.

Soooo, I found this image I have from The Greeting Farm, and thought maybe I could make her a little gothic. Now, Alison has told me how teal is her favorite color to put in her hair so I knew my goth girl had to have teal in her hair too! That was a little harder than I expected…but overall, I loved the card.

If you look closely, you’ll see I added an eyebrow piercing to my girl! I used a lot of Spicas on this!!! I colored her in Copics but I didn’t write down the colors! It was last year before my New Year’s resolution to do better! I used Bermuda Bay from Stampin’ Up! and Raven from Bazzill for my card. Both are textured and that’s just how I like it! I also used PTI white. I made a frame with this card so that is a little different than normal layering.

The “Superstar” sentiment is from Verve’s Starstruck set and I just absolutely adore that set. The same set is used for the interior of the card.

I see Ali as a star. And she is. She is full of life and energy…totally admirable. She’s one amazing chick and I’m glad to call her my friend. So happy birthday, Ali!!!

Naughty or Nice?

Over the weekend, my sister needed a card for the person whose name she drew at work for Christmas. She was at a loss because her style is not the same as the person’s she needed the card for. So…this is where I enter…

I happened to have the perfect stamp for the card she needed. Because, you know…it’s all about the sass! And the StampInsanity lines of stamps have plenty of that!

Since I had to make this card, it was also the perfect opportunity for me to make one of those really cool 4×4 Easel Cards I’ve been seeing everywhere.

These pictures were all taken at my sister’s house with not a lot of preparation so please be forgiving. Remember…it’s Christmas. LOL

I used Copics, Spicas and a white gel pen. And embossing powder. This was all spur of the moment so I don’t have details of all the products I used.

I wish I’d have seen Jen’s reddish-brown Copic tutorial before I colored this. Jen is a very skilled and professionally trained artist as well as an art educator by profession so if you are looking for tutorials on how to color, I highly suggest following her blog.

I hope everyone has a wonderfully Merry Christmas!
