WHEW!!!
That was a lot of technical details! So let’s get on with it! I’ve been reading (or should I say listening) to the Sookie series since right after I first read Twilight. It’s my #2 fav series. I’ve listened to them more than once. I especially love listening to the stories while I’m stamping.
This challenge was to create a piece that reflects the first book. Well, that’s pretty easy. I chose Merlotte’s Bar. Merlotte’s is such a key setting throughout all of the series! It’s sounds like a cool place to hang out too.
I wanted my Merlotte’s to be rustic looking since it is located in a very woodsy area in Bom Temps, Louisiana. Now mostly, I’m sure these locals are drinking beer. But since I’m not fond of beer…I had to throw in the Margaritas, Strawberry Daiquiris, and Martinis.
You know what? I used my two least favorite tools evah in this project. LIQUID APPLIQUE and my Embossing Heat Tool
. I hate them both. One is a necessary evil..the other…grrrr.
I just had to be able to do make the froth on this beer mug. I have to be pretty determine to pull that mess out. But you know. Reading the directions is “a beautiful thing” as one of my dearest friends would say. I discovered today…that I should actually heat the back of the paper where I applied the liquid mess. And it worked!!! I could actually be motivated to use this stuff some more. I heated the backside of the paper first, then basically set the top for a few seconds!!
Isn’t the froth cool!!!???
BTW: This is a 6×6” scrap page. I used Always Artichoke cardstock for the base and Very Vanilla for the images. The images were stamped in Jet Black Stazon. I also used my Cricut (Storybook and Home Accents) and Basic Grey’s Wassail designer paper. I got mine from Margie but I’m not sure if it’s still available.
Here’s my daiquiri. I could slurp that thing right now. See the sugar? Inspired by Bestie Beth.
She’s a real bartender. Seriously.
Margaritas and Mexican food. Does anything compare? I got to go eat Mexican food with two of my dearest friends Monday night. I was so impressed I went back on Tuesday night to “take my husband”..
And look at the Crystal Effects! Those were also inspired by Bestie Beth. Isn’t that super cool?
Do you love Sookie too? Curious what I’m talking about? Well, here’s one heads up. Sookie is a sassy Southerner, good girl, who is telepathic. She gets hooked up with some vampires after they “come out of the closet” and mainstream. These are mystery books with sass, spice, and loads of Southern humor. They absolutely rock!
