Yep, I went there…did that. I created a GEL CARD!!! I just couldn’t help myself when I saw this gorgeous Sassy Studios image!

So if you’re a relatively new paper crafter, you may have never seen a gel card. These were all the rage back in 2004. They are pretty easy to make and a lot of fun for cards that involve fish, swimming, and anything that needs water. However, they are a little bulky so you’ve got to be careful with your embellishments and such. If you’ve never made one and are interested, go check out Beate’s Splitcoast Tutorial.

I forgot how fun it was to squish the gel around and make fun bubbles… I used Bazzill Bling paper to give my otherwise plain card some pizzazz. The image is the focus here, stampers!

I used my clear Spica to color the mermaid’s tail, shirt, and pearls. And I must say, I really, really love how her tail turned out. Can I be impressed with myself?? Wonder what other retro cards I can dig up…
