Mini Backpack Video Tutorial
Here is the tutorial I promised from yesterday. Making this video has been a nightmare, all day project. I recorded it as a full tutorial from beginning to end but then it was way too long for YouTube. The only way I could do it was to make it a speedy video with a few overlay instructions. If you download a copy of the template, it may be easier to follow along. I admit, I’m not extremely happy with the quality of this video but I’m learning and I’m sure I will get better. This mini backpack is for my son…hopefully, it will be “cool” enough for him. I bet if I fill it with candy he’ll like it just fine.
Update!! I edited the template so the measurements should be correct now.
I’m really unhappy with how my adhesive keeps coming unstuck. It used to be that Tombow Mono Adhesive was the BEST…when did their quality start lacking? I was wondering about an ATG…it seems SCSers think that ATGs are the best. Do any of you have experience with them? Or another form of adhesive that does not come undone after awhile? I’m going to try out a new type of Tombow that is supposed to have “super” bonding power. We’ll see..

Thanks so much for the great template! Seems easier to follow.
You have a great blog by the way! I’ll be back!
that tutorial is very helpful! bless you bless you bless you for creating a template with measurements!! this is ALL very appreciated, so please know that your efforts were not in vain! i’m going to make one of these today or tomorrow, and everyone’s going to be wowed! awesome…
Tonya,
Go for the ATG!! I have one and it’s the best (better than SU!’s SNAIL; but don’t tell anyone that I said that, LOL!!). You won’t regret your purchase especially if you get the adhesive for scrappers. Then you can use it for both scrapping and carding (is that a word? LOL!)

Great blog you have! I’ve added you to my list of favs!:-)
Wow, awesome tutorial for such a cute project. I can’t wait to try it!
For items that need to stick really well, like boxes & bags, I use SU’s Sticky Strip (redline) tape. It does not come apart, so when you put your layers together, you’d better be sure they’re right–there is NO getting that stuff apart! For just regular cards I use Mono and ATG.

I love the backpack. What a great idea. I just wanted to thank you so much for posting the tutorial and instructions. I can’t wait to try it. I’m thinking it would make a great gift card holder for kids for the holidays. I use SU Sticky Tape when I put together projects like this and I haven’t had them come apart. I use the mono for cards.
I love the back pack and thanks for the instructions and video was perfect! I have an ATG gun and it is the one that holds the 1/2 ” tape. I find the wider tape is better for holding the layers and use mine constantly. Saves on the refills too as it takes the larger rolls of refill. I ordered mine from U-line. It is the yellow Scotch one and it uses scotch refils. I have also found something simular to sticky strip called Viva Las Vegsstamps miracle tape. http://www.stampo.com

Thanks for a super project.I’ll download the template and try make one myself.

Tonya,
Super cute and very clever. I only have trouble with my Tombo when I am using textured cardstock. Then I use Click n Stick Mounting Squares or Terrifically Tacky Tape. I haven’t played with an ATG…with my carpal tunnel surgery, it is just too big for me.
I LOVE the backpack! I had to make one right away and it is so stinkin easy thanks to you and your tutorial! Thank you so much for sharing.
As for the adhesive question, I have not had any issues with my snail from SU, even though I know I can get it cheaper at JoAnns i will still get it from SU. But I have heard that if you live in a state that is warmer and the humidity it can be a trouble some thing. I live in Seattle so if it doesnt stick, just put it in the rain and it will meld together from getting wet.. lol other then that if I need something to never ever come apart, I use the sticky strip or i use Tacky glue, you can find it in the arts and craft section of any walmart where it is the cheapest, it is a brown bottle with white letters.
This is a fantastic video tutorial. I may actually be brave enough to make on of these now. Thank you so much for showing how! :O)
way to cute and creative, thanks for sharing the template!
